MEAT: YES OR NO?

MEAT: YES OR NO?

There is archaeological evidence that our hominid ancestors to survive in their environment, learned to eat meat 2.5 million years ago https://www.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/2/evolving-to-eat-mush-how-meat-changed-our-bodies/. The absorption of these proteins improved about 2 million ago by dominating the fire. https://www.history.com/news/human-ancestors-tamed-fire-earlier-than-thought.

It is partially attributed to the consumption of meat (the structure that contains the most amino acids by volume) the development of Homo sapiens (200,000 years ago), of its brain capacity, language improvement and social strengthening. This meat was obtained from nature through traps or hunting raids.

The taste for a good steak is very old and intense. That, in modern times has generated the Industrialization of meat reaching the point of being identified as the generator of half of the carbon footprint that causes greenhouse effect and the damaging global warming. http://css.umich.edu/factsheets/carbon-footprint-factsheet. The problem is not the meat but the changes introduced to obtain it.

It is a known fact that threats and situations of imminent death result in the elevation of stress which in turn causes innumerable secretions and bodily changes that remain in the meat of that sacrificed animal.

Among the most consumed meats we find variation in tastes depending on the area explored but they are usually cow, pig, sheep, rabbit, chicken, turkey, duck, goat, fish ... The problem is that the smarter the animal is to benefit, more quickly he will notice his impending death and more intensely stressed will be compared to the meat of the same animal, obtained in hunting.

Certain forms of intelligence are usually calculated using the Intellectual Quotient but, it is somewhat complicated to apply those parameters in animals. Another way to estimate intelligence is to observe the amount of neurons that the brain of each animal species contains or by observing its ability to be trained.

It is logical to think that in a slaughterhouse, all animals can sniff and also hear and see directly their own death. The anguish will be long, high and their flesh will end up impregnated with this fear.

This reality of suffering motivates more and more people. They move away from meat consumption and actively oppose that aspect of Industry. It is a trend that we will continue to observe accompanied by an increase in the intake of proteins of plant origin and a decrease in animal protein.

The crux of the problem is not the meat itself but the way of obtaining it. Several options begin to appear in sight.

First, I totally refrain from eating them. The second, I reduce the consumption in frequency and quantity. Since the dose makes the poison, I reduce my risk to less harmful levels. The third, I switch to hunting meat or cloned meat https://sostenibilidad.semana.com/medio-ambiente/articulo/carne-sintetica-la-mejor-alternativa-para-el-medio-ambiente/42655 (I hope that free and happy animal) produced in laboratories on land and in space https://www.engadget.com/2019/10/08/lab-grown-meat-in-space/

For millennia we humans have enjoyed good and succulent steaks but only recently they come from very careful industrialized processes in breeding but somewhat indifferent in animal sacrifice exposing them to long and unnecessary levels of anxiety, anguish and fear of death. Logically, their meats are saturated and it is not wise to eat them daily.

This overcrowding is relatively recent as recent is the increase in diseases that were previously scarce. Some people would call him Karma. A good life and a good animal death have been millenary ways and if we have changed our lifestyle and stress harms us daily, these animal species have changed their environment much more. Meats Yes or No. The crux is not the meat itself but the way of obtaining it.
